The Dalton Trust began funding the residency in 2017 and funding was confirmed for at least 5 years. The trust, set up as a legacy to John and Anne Dalton of Kerikeri aims ‘to sponsor or promote performances of or otherwise support the arts and in particular the performing arts in and about Kerikeri’.

The aim of the residency is to offer artists the opportunity to come to Wharepuke and make a permanent work for the sculpture park.

Artists receive a fee and a months accommodation at Wharepuke.
